Former NFL Players Enter NCAA Transfer Portal Following Court Ruling
Several former NFL players, including Dae’Quan Wright, Zxavian Harris, and TJ Harden, entered the NCAA transfer portal on Thursday following a court ruling that permits them to return to college sports. This decision comes after a Louisiana judge issued a temporary restraining order allowing over 30 athletes to re-enter the college football landscape.
The ruling, effective for 10 days, opens the transfer portal for these players, who had previously exhausted their eligibility and participated in NFL training camps. So far, nine former college football players involved in the case have registered in the portal since the ruling was made.
The case revolves around a new NCAA eligibility rule that affects athletes who have completed four years of competition without a redshirt. The judge's order allows these athletes to enter the portal if they terminate any existing professional contracts and repay any money received. The NCAA has until August 31 to respond to the ruling, which could lead to further legal actions.
