Former Phillies Players Throw First Pitches in Tribute to 'Field of Dreams'

During a special alumni weekend event, four former Philadelphia Phillies players, who never appeared in a major league game, threw ceremonial first pitches at Citizens Bank Park. This tribute was inspired by the character Moonlight Graham from the film 'Field of Dreams'.

Tim Lahey, Tim Gradoville, Will Toffey, and Jeff Singer participated in the festivities before the Phillies' game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Each player donned throwback jerseys reminiscent of the late 1930s, which the team will wear during their upcoming game in Iowa.

Lahey expressed surprise and gratitude for the honor, reflecting on the mixed emotions associated with such recognition. Gradoville noted the significance of the event for his children, who had never seen him play professionally. The players enjoyed reconnecting with former teammates and felt a sense of belonging within the organization, highlighting the continuity of the team's core over recent years.
