Former Police Officer Sentenced for Violent Rape in Liverpool
Ryan Theaker, a 30-year-old former police constable from Merseyside, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for raping a woman in a Liverpool hotel room. The attack, which lasted 82 minutes, was secretly recorded by the victim, who repeatedly told him to stop.
Theaker was found guilty of rape, sexual assault, and assault by penetration after a trial. The court heard that he demanded the woman allow him to take naked pictures of her and assaulted her with sex toys he had brought. The audio recordings captured her distress as she cried throughout the ordeal.
Theaker was designated a dangerous offender by the judge, who noted the significant impact of his actions on the victim, including her suicide attempt. Following the report of the offences in August 2024, Theaker was suspended and resigned just before a misconduct hearing in August 2025.
