Former World Boxing Champion Zolani Tete Shot Dead in South Africa
Zolani Tete, a former world boxing champion, was fatally shot outside his home in Mdantsane township, Eastern Cape, South Africa. The incident occurred as the 38-year-old was arriving home when two men in balaclavas opened fire.
Tete, who won the world bantamweight title in 2017, was known for his impressive boxing career, including a notable 11-second knockout in a world title fight. A woman accompanying him was also injured in the attack and has been hospitalized.
The killing has drawn attention to the ongoing issue of violent crime in South Africa, which has one of the highest murder rates globally. Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane expressed his condolences and called for thorough investigations into the incident.
