Formula 1 Announces African Grand Prix in Rwanda
Formula 1 has confirmed a 10-year agreement to host the African Grand Prix in Rwanda, with the inaugural race expected in the early 2030s. This announcement marks the sport's return to the African continent for the first time since 1993.
The race will be held at a new circuit in Bugesera, which is being developed to meet FIA Grade 1 standards. The project is part of a broader initiative by the Rwanda Development Board aimed at enhancing sports, tourism, and infrastructure in the region.
Rwanda has previously hosted significant international events, and the Formula 1 African Grand Prix is seen as a step towards establishing the country as a key destination for global sports. The partnership aims to create lasting economic benefits and inspire future generations in Africa.
