Formula 1 Signs 10-Year Agreement with Rwanda for African Grand Prix
Formula 1 has announced a 10-year agreement with the Rwandan government to host the African Grand Prix in Kigali, with the inaugural race planned for 2030.
The event will take place at a new natural road course located 40 kilometers south of Kigali, adjacent to the under-construction Bugesera international airport. The track, designed by former driver Alex Wurz, features a 6-kilometer layout with 17 corners and a significant elevation change.
This partnership marks F1's return to the African continent for the first time since the 1993 South African Grand Prix. The deal aims to foster economic growth and tourism in Rwanda, with officials emphasizing the long-term benefits for the region.
