Formula 1 to Decide on Qatar and Abu Dhabi by Mid-September
Formula 1 plans to make a decision regarding the inclusion of Qatar and Abu Dhabi in the 2026 calendar after mid-September. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali indicated that the organization is monitoring the situation in the Middle East and coordinating with other major racing championships.
Domenicali noted that while the World Endurance Championship has opted to remain in Europe, Formula 1 has not yet reached a similar conclusion. He emphasized the importance of taking time to assess developments before making any decisions.
Currently, both Qatar and Abu Dhabi are confirmed for the season finale, with tickets already sold out. However, if conditions worsen, the season may conclude in Europe. Imola has been mentioned as a potential alternative venue, although no agreements have been finalized. Domenicali also highlighted the growing significance of the European market and ongoing negotiations for future races in Africa, with Portugal and Turkey added to the calendar.
