Formula E Plans to Introduce Female Drivers in Two to Three Years

Formula E is targeting the inclusion of female drivers in championship-level racing within the next two to three years, as stated by CEO Jeff Dodds. This announcement comes as the series prepares for a weekend marking 50 years since a woman last participated in Formula One.

Since its inception, Formula E has seen three female competitors, which is notably one more than the total in 76 years of Formula One. The series has been conducting a 'women's test' for the past two years, allowing female drivers to experience current race conditions. Dodds indicated that a significant expansion of this program will be announced soon.

Dodds emphasized the need for teams to support this initiative, noting that many already have female drivers in their development programs. He expressed optimism about the teams' willingness to enhance opportunities for women in racing. The current races also signify a transition for Formula E, with the introduction of a new Gen 4 car expected to elevate performance standards.
