Foster Griffin Struggles in Guardians' Loss to Mets

CLEVELAND — Foster Griffin had a difficult first start for the Cleveland Guardians, who lost 13-6 to the New York Mets, marking a three-game sweep for the last-place team.

Griffin, acquired from Washington, allowed five runs over four innings, including two home runs in the second inning. The Mets took a 3-2 lead after Marcus Semien and Luis Torrens hit homers. Griffin also gave up two runs in the third inning before being removed after the fourth.

The Guardians managed to narrow the score to 6-5 with a three-run homer from Nathaniel Lowe in the fifth. However, the Mets extended their lead in the eighth, scoring four more runs. This loss continued a tough stretch for Cleveland, who has lost 11 of their last 14 games.
