Clarkson's remarks referenced Colapinto's actual grid penalty for exceeding his power unit parts quota and alluded to a past incident during a Top Gear special in Patagonia. In response, Alpine issued a statement affirming their support for Colapinto.

Colapinto clarified that Clarkson's comments were not related to the team and expressed his intent to focus on improving his performance. His race in Austin ended prematurely due to a collision with Arvid Lindblad, marking his third retirement in the last four races. He remains optimistic about upcoming races in Mexico and Brazil.
