Fraudulent Scheme Leads to Arrest of Man Posing as 49ers Player
Federal authorities have arrested two men in Idaho for their involvement in a fraudulent scheme where one of them posed as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. Daejon Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, face charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.
The scheme reportedly began in 2022 when Love met women on dating apps, claiming to be a 49ers player or a wealthy real-estate investor. He used various aliases, including Jon Love and Jordan Love, and convinced victims that they were in genuine romantic relationships while promoting fictitious investment opportunities.
Victims were led to believe they could achieve significant financial returns, and some even took out personal loans to fund these investments. Communication ceased when victims began to question Love or ran out of money. The FBI suspects there may be many more victims beyond the 26 already identified.
