Freddie Burns Returns to Leicester Tigers as Kicking Coach

Freddie Burns has rejoined Leicester Tigers as their kicking coach after recently retiring from professional rugby. The former England fly-half, who is 36 years old, previously played for the Tigers and is known for his pivotal last-minute drop-goal that secured the 2022 Premiership title.

Burns' coaching role comes just three weeks after he announced his retirement, having had a diverse career that included stints with Gloucester, Bath, and teams in New Zealand and Japan. He takes over from Alex Davies, who has moved to the Welsh coaching staff, and will work alongside head coach Geoff Parling.

Burns expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the club, emphasizing his commitment to helping the team maximize its potential. The Tigers last claimed the top-flight title in 2022, although they reached the final again in 2025 and the semi-finals last season.
