Freddy Peralta Traded from Mets to Rays

Freddy Peralta has been traded by the New York Mets to the Tampa Bay Rays, marking another move for the veteran pitcher. This transaction comes as the Mets look to reshape their roster amid a disappointing season.

In exchange for Peralta, the Mets will receive three prospects from the Rays: outfielder Aidan Smith, infielder Émilien Pitre, and pitcher Gary Gill Hill, all ranked among Tampa Bay's top 30 prospects. Peralta, who has struggled with a 4.99 ERA in 22 starts this season, will join a strong Rays pitching rotation that includes Drew Rasmussen and Shane McClanahan.

Peralta's performance has declined since his time with the Milwaukee Brewers, where he was considered an ace. The Rays, currently positioned well for the postseason, are taking a low financial risk with Peralta, who is owed $2.4 million for the remainder of the season before hitting free agency.
