Fremantle Coach Supports Decision to Rest Captain After Narrow Loss

Fremantle's coach Justin Longmuir has expressed support for the decision to rest captain Alex Pearce during the recent match against Melbourne, which ended in a narrow four-point defeat at the MCG.

Pearce, who has a history of injuries, was not part of the Dockers' lineup, and Longmuir stated that the decision to rest him would have been made regardless of the team's position on the ladder. He noted that the team faced a strong opponent and acknowledged that they were leading with eight minutes remaining but failed to manage the final moments effectively.

The Dockers' defense struggled significantly, allowing 113 points and failing to contain Melbourne's offensive plays. Longmuir pointed out that Pearce's presence could have made a difference, particularly in leadership and defensive performance, as evidenced by a crucial moment when Harrison Petty scored a decisive goal late in the game.
