Freshmen Shine for Penn State Men's Hockey Despite Losses
Penn State men's hockey returned from Connecticut without a victory, suffering losses in both games at the Ice Breaker Tournament. However, head coach Guy Gadowsky noted the promising performances of freshmen Kale Dach and Justin Larose.
Dach scored in both games, netting Penn State's only goal in a 3-1 defeat to No. 16 UConn and adding another against Sacred Heart. Larose also made an impact, scoring just 21 seconds after Dach's goal against Sacred Heart with a notable 'Michigan' play. Together, they contributed three goals and two assists over the weekend.
Despite the freshmen's efforts, the Nittany Lions struggled overall, being outshot in both games and facing challenges such as a key injury to Keaton Peters. The team will look to bounce back in their home opener against No. 8 Quinnipiac at Pegula Ice Arena.
