Gable Steveson Suggests Jon Jones May Return to UFC After Aspinall's Title Withdrawal
Gable Steveson has indicated that Jon Jones might consider returning to the UFC now that the heavyweight title is vacant. This situation arose after Tom Aspinall announced on Monday that he had to relinquish the belt due to an eye injury that prevents him from competing.
Steveson, who trains daily with Jones in Albuquerque, expressed that the vacancy could reignite Jones's motivation to return to the octagon. He noted that Jones is capable of performing at a high level and suggested that the opportunity might present itself again for him.
Despite previous hesitations about returning, Jones's prospects may have changed due to a thinning heavyweight roster in the UFC. Currently, Jones holds a victory over Ciryl Gane, who has now become the undisputed champion following Aspinall's exit. Steveson is set to fight Sean Sharaf at UFC 331 this Saturday, aiming for his second win in the UFC this year.
