Gage Ziehl's Performance in 2026 After Trade to Red Sox
Gage Ziehl, a pitching prospect for the Boston Red Sox, had a notable 2026 season after being traded from the Chicago White Sox in February. He made more starts and pitched more innings than any other minor leaguer in the Red Sox organization.
Initially starting the season with Double-A Portland, Ziehl struggled with a 5.94 ERA in his first seven starts. However, he improved significantly from May 31 onward, achieving a 3.21 ERA in his next ten starts before being promoted to Triple-A Worcester on August 4. In Worcester, he recorded a 4.17 ERA over eight starts.
Overall, Ziehl finished the season with a 4.28 ERA, striking out 129 batters across 25 starts and 122 innings. He ranked highly among Red Sox pitchers in several categories, including walks per nine innings and groundball rate. Ziehl, who is currently ranked as Boston's No. 17 prospect, is expected to return to Worcester for the 2027 season unless a trade occurs.
