Garmin Fenix 9 Features to Be Available for Existing Models
Garmin has revealed that the new features from the Fenix 9 series will be available for existing Fenix 8 series devices, a departure from their previous practice of not updating older models. This change also extends to many other Garmin watches, including the Forerunner 970 and Venu X1, which will receive nearly all software updates, with a few exceptions based on hardware limitations.
The new software features include enhancements such as the Garmin Epic feature for multi-day events, new Stamina metrics, and improved activity tracking for various sports. However, certain features, particularly those related to mapping and the new ArcheryX feature, will remain exclusive to the Fenix 9 series due to hardware requirements.
This shift in Garmin's approach to software updates is significant, as it allows users of older models to benefit from advancements that were previously reserved for newer devices. While the exact timeline for these updates has not been confirmed, Garmin is expected to roll them out in the near future.
