Gary Stead Discusses Home Advantage Ahead of India-New Zealand Series
Gary Stead, the former coach of New Zealand, has expressed that the concept of home advantage in cricket is diminishing globally. As India embarks on an all-format tour of New Zealand, Stead believes that India has the potential to defeat New Zealand in the upcoming two-Test series.
Stead, who previously led New Zealand to victory against India in the ICC World Test Championship and a 3-0 series win at home in 2024, noted that the quality of India's seamers has improved significantly. He emphasized that the outcome of the series will depend on which batting team performs better, especially given the bouncy conditions expected at Hagley Oval and Wellington.
Stead remarked on the evolving nature of international cricket, suggesting that teams now have the capability to compete effectively regardless of location. He also advocated for more multi-format series to enhance the competitive landscape of the sport.
