Gasly Indicates Alpine's Legal Battle Over Monaco Podium May Continue
Pierre Gasly has indicated that Alpine's legal fight regarding the Monaco Grand Prix may not be over, following a ruling by the FIA International Court of Appeal. This week, the court upheld challenges from McLaren and Red Bull, reinstating two five-second penalties for pit-lane speeding, which resulted in Gasly dropping to seventh place and Isack Hadjar being restored to the podium.
Gasly expressed his frustration, stating that he feels robbed and believes the matter will continue beyond the track. He mentioned that the next steps would likely involve Alpine's legal team, emphasizing his trust in their decisions. Meanwhile, Alpine's executive adviser Flavio Briatore has hinted at a potential further challenge, questioning the independence of one of the judges involved in the appeal.
In response, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella dismissed Briatore's comments as insulting, asserting that the hearing was conducted with the utmost integrity. The FIA has defended the appointment of the judging panel, stating that it was done through the independent International Court of Appeal and that all members met the necessary eligibility criteria. As of now, Alpine has not confirmed whether it will pursue additional legal action.
