Gasly Secures Pole Position at Monza Amid Tire Concerns

Pierre Gasly has secured pole position for Alpine at the Monza Grand Prix, marking a significant achievement for the team. However, the upcoming race will challenge the car's tire durability over the full distance of 53 laps.

Alpine's success in qualifying was attributed to a combination of a low-drag car, recent upgrades, and effective use of slipstreaming. Gasly demonstrated strong performance throughout qualifying, finishing fastest in Q1, fourth in Q2, and ultimately taking pole on his final lap.

Managing director Steve Nielsen expressed optimism that the low-drag setup could make it difficult for competitors to overtake Gasly, especially if he can secure a strong start. While Flavio Briatore aims for a victory, Ralf Schumacher raised concerns about potential tire degradation affecting Alpine's performance during the race.
