Gautam Gambhir Motivates Indian Test Squad Ahead of Sri Lanka Series
India's head coach Gautam Gambhir has motivated his young Test team in New Delhi ahead of their two-match series against Sri Lanka, urging players to be fully prepared for challenges starting from the first day in Galle.
The Indian squad began training at the Nondescripts Cricket Club in Colombo and will participate in a three-day warm-up match against a Sri Lanka XI from August 7 to 9. The first Test is set to commence on August 15, followed by the second Test from August 23 to 27 at Colombo's Sinhalese Sports Club.
Gambhir highlighted the need for meticulous preparation, especially given India's recent struggles against spin bowling. He welcomed newcomers Saransh Jain and Auqib Nabi, while also addressing injury concerns affecting key players like Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle, with India currently positioned fifth in the standings.
