Gavin Williams to Start Game 5 for Guardians Against White Sox
The Cleveland Guardians have announced that Gavin Williams will be the starting pitcher for Game 5 of the ALDS against the Chicago White Sox. This decision comes after Williams successfully closed out Game 4, helping secure a 9-5 victory.
Manager Stephen Vogt stated that Williams is eager to take the mound for this crucial winner-take-all game, scheduled for Saturday night. In Game 4, Williams relieved closer Cade Smith and recorded the final three outs with just one hit allowed over 18 pitches.
Previously, Williams started Game 2 of the series, where he struck out 11 batters and allowed two runs over five innings. The White Sox will respond with Sean Burke, who has experience as a starter and pitched 5.1 innings in Game 2.
