Geelong Cats Focus on Elimination Final Amid Concussion Saga
The Geelong Cats are set to compete against the Carlton Blues in an elimination final at the MCG on Friday night. Midfielder Tom Atkins has stated that the team's focus remains solely on the upcoming match.
Recently, Geelong was fined $140,000 for not properly notifying the AFL about a concussion waiver in Jake Kolodjashnij's contract. This fine includes a $100,000 penalty and a suspended $40,000 sanction, following a previous investigation into the club's third-party agreements.
Atkins emphasized that the players have not been distracted by the concussion saga, noting that their priority has been to support Kolodjashnij, who has not played since the issue arose. He expressed happiness at having Kolodjashnij back at the club as the finals approach, hoping for his return to training and playing soon.
