George Kittle Activated for Potential Week 1 Return with 49ers
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has been activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list as he aims to participate in the team's Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on September 10 in Melbourne.
Kittle, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon during a playoff game in January, missed training camp and the first two preseason games. The 49ers have begun increasing his practice workload, and he has been seen catching passes during warm-ups.
While Kittle is optimistic about his chances of playing in Week 1, recovery from an Achilles injury can take a significant amount of time. His presence would bolster the 49ers' competitiveness in the NFC West, a division featuring strong teams like the Rams and Seattle Seahawks. Last season, Kittle was a key contributor, ranking third on the team in receiving yards.
