George Kittle's Recovery Progresses, Could Play Week 1
George Kittle, the tight end for the San Francisco 49ers, is making significant progress in his recovery from a torn Achilles sustained in January. Recent reports indicate that Kittle's recovery is ahead of schedule, raising hopes for his participation in the upcoming Week 1 game against the Rams in Australia.
Kittle visited surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, receiving encouraging news about his recovery. Although he is currently on the active/physically unable to perform list and has not participated in training camp, Kittle expressed confidence that he will be removed from the list before the regular season begins, which would allow him to avoid missing the first four games.
The 49ers must activate Kittle from the PUP list by August 30 for him to be eligible to play. He suffered the Achilles injury during a playoff game against the Eagles on January 11 and underwent surgery shortly after, with ElAttrache performing the procedure. Last season, Kittle earned his seventh Pro Bowl selection despite limited appearances due to other injuries.
