George Kusche Aims for Fast Time at Tshwane 10K

George Kusche, the reigning Comrades Marathon champion, is preparing to compete in the Absa Run Your City Tshwane 10K on August 23, 2026, aiming for a fast time. He is determined to prove himself beyond his ultra-marathon reputation, facing tough competition from Kenya's Salem Kibet, who is also eyeing victory.

Kusche has made significant strides in his running career, achieving a personal best of 28:56 at the 2024 Absa Run Your City Gqeberha 10K and a 2:20:12 debut marathon time at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon. His recent record-breaking performance at the Comrades Marathon, where he finished in 5:15:56, showcases his transition from track to road running.

The 28-year-old athlete emphasizes the importance of 10km races in his training for marathons, expressing his goal to run under 30 minutes at the Tshwane event.
