George Russell Addresses Claims About Simulator Use
George Russell, a driver for Mercedes in Formula 1, has reacted to claims made by Christian Horner, the former CEO and team principal of Red Bull Racing. Horner alleged that Russell, along with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, paid to utilize Red Bull's simulator when they were younger.
During a recent podcast, Horner mentioned that the simulator operator had informed him that these young drivers were outperforming Red Bull's existing junior talent. He recalled that Russell and his peers were financially supported by their families to access the simulator, which he believed could have led to their recruitment.
In response, Russell clarified that in 2013, simulators were not widely available to junior teams. He explained that the opportunity to drive on the simulator was primarily for preparation for testing in the Formula Renault series, as no teams had simulators at that time. The upcoming United States Grand Prix is set to take place from October 23 to 25 at the Circuit of the Americas.
