George Russell Competes with Used Parts After Singapore GP Crash
George Russell faced significant challenges during the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix, including a 60-place engine penalty and mechanical issues. His situation worsened after a crash in the Sprint race, which depleted Mercedes' supply of fresh parts.
After the crash, the team had to replace several key components of Russell's car, including the front wing and suspension. However, they ran out of new spares, forcing them to use previously used parts for the race.
Despite the limitations of the older components, which offered less performance than new ones, Russell managed to finish in P9, a result described by team principal Toto Wolff as a successful effort in damage limitation.
