George Russell Secures Sprint Pole at Dutch Grand Prix
George Russell claimed pole position for the sprint race at the Dutch Grand Prix held in Zandvoort, marking his third sprint pole of the season. He edged out reigning champion Lando Norris by a mere 0.041 seconds.
Russell's impressive performance came as a surprise, as he did not lead in the earlier qualifying sessions. His final lap time of 1m11.567s secured him the top spot, with Charles Leclerc finishing third and Oscar Piastri fourth. Kimi Antonelli, the current championship leader, qualified fifth after experiencing floor damage during the session.
Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton followed in sixth and seventh places, respectively, with Hamilton facing a significant gap of 0.624 seconds to Russell. The top ten was completed by Pierre Gasly, Gabriel Bortoleto, and rookie Arvid Lindblad. Notably, Fernando Alonso struggled, finishing last in the qualifying session.
