George Russell Urged to Question Mercedes Strategy After Italian GP
Following the Italian Grand Prix, Martin Brundle has advised George Russell to seek answers from Mercedes about their strategy, which may have hindered his chances of winning the race.
During the event at Monza, Russell remained on hard tyres while his teammate Kimi Antonelli switched to fresh medium tyres during a virtual safety car period. This decision allowed Antonelli to gain a significant advantage and ultimately secure victory at his home race.
Brundle noted that this situation was particularly challenging for Russell, who had an opportunity to close the gap in the championship standings after Antonelli started from the back due to a power unit penalty. With Antonelli now leading the standings by 66 points, Russell's chances to reduce the deficit have diminished.
