Gerrit Cole Set for Homecoming Start Against Angels
Following a disappointing loss in the series opener, the New York Yankees are set to have Gerrit Cole on the mound for Game 2 against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night in Anaheim, California.
Cole, who has a record of 7-7 and a 3.19 ERA this season, is returning to his roots, having attended nearby Orange Lutheran High School. He previously achieved a standout performance against the Angels on September 1, 2021, where he struck out 15 batters in a 4-1 victory.
In his career against the Angels, Cole has an impressive 8-2 record with a 2.48 ERA over 12 starts. He is coming off a recent loss to the Astros, where he allowed three runs over six innings. The Angels, who recently ended a seven-game losing streak, will counter with Grayson Rodriguez, who is also making a comeback after injuries.
