Giants' Matt Chapman to Undergo Season-Ending Surgery

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman is set to undergo season-ending surgery on Tuesday due to an abdominal strain.

Chapman was evaluated by Dr. William C. Meyers in Philadelphia, who confirmed the core muscle injury. The 33-year-old player, who signed a six-year contract worth $151 million in September 2024, has recorded a batting average of .235 with seven home runs and 42 RBIs over 84 games this season.

Additionally, catcher Daniel Susac suffered a fractured patella in his left knee during a game against Detroit and is undergoing evaluation by team doctors to determine his recovery plan. Susac was injured after fouling a ball off his knee and is expected to need time to heal.
