Giants Place Keaton Winn on Injured List Due to Elbow Neuritis
The San Francisco Giants have announced that right-handed pitcher Keaton Winn has been placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 19, due to right elbow neuritis. In response, the team has recalled left-hander Reiver Sanmartin.
Winn's injury comes during a challenging season for the Giants, who currently hold a record of 52-74 and are significantly out of playoff contention. His absence is not expected to impact the team's performance as they navigate the remainder of the season.
This latest injury adds to Winn's history of arm problems, which includes missing the entire 2021 season following Tommy John surgery and undergoing nerve transposition surgery in June 2024. Although he has transitioned from the rotation to the bullpen in hopes of maintaining his health, he has faced mixed results. In 2026, he has pitched 43 innings in the majors, but previous elbow strains have sidelined him for extended periods. Despite these challenges, he has recorded a 3.35 earned run average this season and remains under club control for four more years.
