Giants Recall Zach Morgan and Select Cesar Perdomo
The San Francisco Giants have made roster changes by recalling catcher Zach Morgan from Triple-A Sacramento and selecting the contract of left-handed pitcher Cesar Perdomo as part of their roster expansion from 26 to 28 players.
To create a spot on the 40-man roster for Perdomo, right-hander Adrian Houser has been transferred to the 60-day injured list. Perdomo, 24, was signed internationally from Venezuela in 2021 and has progressed through the minor leagues, pitching 120 innings this year with a 4.43 earned run average over 24 appearances. He is currently ranked as the #30 prospect in the Giants' system.
While Perdomo has primarily been a starter, he is expected to serve as a long reliever for the Giants. Morgan, who was added to the 40-man roster in August but did not play, will provide additional depth at catcher. Houser, who has been dealing with a right forearm strain, will not return this season after struggling to meet expectations following a two-year contract signed in the offseason.
