Giants Release Najee Harris Following Criticism of Running Back Rotation
The New York Giants have decided to release running back Najee Harris shortly after he voiced his dissatisfaction with his limited role in the team's rushing rotation. Harris, who joined the Giants in August, had rushed 31 times for 99 yards over five games, including a start in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints where he managed only two yards on four carries.
In the same game, quarterback J.J. McCarthy led the Giants in rushing with 26 yards on two attempts, while other running backs contributed modestly. Following the game, Harris commented on the challenges of finding a rhythm with such limited opportunities. Coach Harbaugh acknowledged Harris's frustration but emphasized that playing time must be earned.
The Giants are expected to seek another running back soon, with the possibility of returning to Cam Skattebo in their upcoming game against the Houston Texans. Despite the ongoing issues in the backfield, the Giants currently lead the NFC East with a record of 3-2-1.
