Giants to Start J.J. McCarthy as Quarterback Against Texans
John Harbaugh, head coach of the Giants, announced during a Wednesday press conference that J.J. McCarthy will be the starting quarterback for the upcoming game against the Texans.
McCarthy takes over from Jameis Winston, who started the last four games, contributing to a record of 2-1-1. Winston was benched after a loss to New Orleans, where he threw two interceptions. McCarthy had a strong performance in the fourth quarter of that game, scoring 17 points.
Harbaugh explained that the decision was made to optimize the team's offensive performance. He emphasized that while circumstances can change, he does not intend to reassess the quarterback situation weekly. McCarthy, who was acquired from the Vikings recently, is expected to have a game plan tailored to his strengths moving forward.
