Giants' Willy Adames Diagnosed with UCL Sprain; Adrian Houser to Undergo MRI

Willy Adames, the shortstop for the San Francisco Giants, has been diagnosed with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow. The injury occurred during a slide into home plate on Sunday, leading to his placement on the injured list.

Adames sustained the injury while scoring from second base on a single, awkwardly using his left arm to steady himself after the slide. The team has not yet decided on the need for surgery, as the injury is to his non-throwing arm. Manager Tony Vitello indicated that Adames will undergo rehabilitation and be reevaluated later.

This injury marks the second UCL issue for the Giants in recent days, following left-hander Carson Whisenhunt's diagnosis of a UCL sprain/tear, which may require surgery. Additionally, right-hander Adrian Houser exited a game early and is scheduled for an MRI to assess his condition.
