Glenn Irwin Aims for Comeback in British Superbike Championship
Glenn Irwin, a two-time runner-up in the British Superbike Championship, is looking to reclaim his position at the top with a move to Michael Laverty's BMW-backed team for the 2027 season.
The Northern Ireland rider will compete on an Alpha Racing-prepared BMW M 1000 RR for the GRYD Racing team, co-owned by Laverty and David Eltherington. Irwin's previous season in 2026 was challenging, marked by injuries, crashes, and technical difficulties, which led to a disappointing 14th place finish in the standings.
Despite the setbacks, Irwin showed moments of speed, including a podium finish at Knockhill and victories at the North West 200. He expressed enthusiasm about the new opportunity, particularly valuing the chance to compete effectively in both British Superbikes and road racing. Irwin is determined to leverage his experience and renewed confidence to return to winning form.
