Glover Teixeira Seeks Rematch with Alexander Gustafsson After Victory Over Shogun Rua

Glover Teixeira is looking for a boxing rematch with Alexander Gustafsson after defeating Mauricio Shogun Rua in an eight-round match on Saturday night in Sao Paulo.

Teixeira dominated Rua, scoring a knockdown and winning by decision in his boxing debut at Spaten Fight Night 3. Following the fight, he confirmed his interest in facing Gustafsson, whose team had previously indicated they would like to fight the winner. Teixeira acknowledged that he felt good and is open to any fights that make sense.

In their previous encounter in 2017, Gustafsson defeated Teixeira by knockout in the fifth round, which led to Gustafsson receiving another title shot. Teixeira noted that despite some ring rust from being out of action for three and a half years, he is eager to compete again within the next six months. Rua managed to last the full distance despite being hurt multiple times, which surprised Teixeira, who had anticipated a knockout.
