Good Good Dismisses Executives Following Controversial Advert
Good Good, an American golf brand, has dismissed two senior executives in response to backlash from a controversial advert that featured a woman being pushed to the ground. The company announced the terminations of chief executive Matt Kendrick and president Joe Flannery after the advert, created for Callaway, drew significant criticism.
Earlier this week, Jeffrey Lefkovits, the vice-president of brand and marketing, was also let go. Alex Puchala, head of finance and operations, described the dismissals as a challenging moment for the Good Good family. Nahid Giga, a board member and investor, has been appointed as the interim CEO.
The advert, which was removed last month, was criticized for trivializing violence against women. Following the backlash, Callaway ended its partnership with Good Good and pledged to donate $1 million to organizations focused on preventing violence against women. Additionally, Good Good has withdrawn from its sponsorship of an upcoming PGA Tour event and its products have been removed from several retailers.
