Graeme McDowell Confirms Departure from LIV Golf

Graeme McDowell, the 2010 US Open champion, has announced his exit from LIV Golf, joining other major winners in leaving the breakaway tour.

Graeme McDowell, a former US Open champion from Northern Ireland, has confirmed his departure from LIV Golf, becoming the latest major champion to exit the breakaway tour.

The 47-year-old announced on Monday that he will not be participating in LIV 2.0, the new iteration of the tour set to launch in 2027. Other notable players, including Jon Rahm and Louis Oosthuizen, have also announced their exits, while Tom McKibbin recently returned to the DP World Tour.

LIV Golf has faced challenges, including the withdrawal of financial backing from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund in April, which had invested over $5 billion. The league filed for bankruptcy protection last month, although it has secured potential financing of $300 million from BC Partners Credit to continue with its plans.
