Great Britain Secures Two Gold Medals at Track Cycling World Championships
At the Track Cycling World Championships in Shanghai, Great Britain's Anna Morris secured her third gold medal by winning the women's madison alongside Erin Boothman. The duo finished with 40 points, outperforming teams from France and Japan.
Morris, who is 31 years old and a seven-time world champion, expressed her disbelief at the achievement, noting the busy schedule of the championships. She made history by being the first woman to win the team pursuit, omnium, and madison events in a single championship since the women's madison was introduced in 2017.
In addition to Morris's victory, 22-year-old Millie Couzens claimed another gold for Great Britain in the women's individual pursuit final, narrowly defeating 29-year-old Josie Knight by half a second. Couzens led from the start, finishing with a time of four minutes 21.505 seconds. With these wins, Great Britain leads the medals table with a total of six golds.
