Grizzlies Waive Zach Cleveland; Lakers Cut Two Players
The Memphis Grizzlies announced the waiver of forward Zach Cleveland, who was on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract. This decision leaves the team with a 20-man roster, consisting of 17 players on standard contracts and three on two-way deals.
To comply with the 15-man standard roster requirement for the upcoming regular season, the Grizzlies need to release two more players, which may involve trading or waiving those with guaranteed salaries. These moves are expected to be finalized by Sunday or Monday.
In a related move, the Los Angeles Lakers waived Rafael Castro and Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones. The Lakers, who currently have 16 standard contracts, are also looking to make additional roster adjustments before the season starts, potentially involving a trade for 2024 first-rounder Dalton Knecht, who has been in discussions with teams like the Bulls and Jazz.
