Guardians Promote Connor Brogdon from Triple-A

The Cleveland Guardians have selected the contract of right-hander Connor Brogdon from Triple-A Columbus, marking his second stint on the active roster this season.

To make room, the team optioned right-hander Franco Aleman to Triple-A. Brogdon, who signed a one-year deal worth $900K last winter, has struggled with a 5.28 ERA over 15 1/3 innings in the bullpen, allowing five home runs during that time.

After being designated for assignment in May, Brogdon accepted an outright assignment to Columbus before briefly playing in the Arizona Complex League. He returned to Triple-A in early August, where he recorded a 6.35 ERA and a 16.3% walk rate over 11 1/3 innings, although he also achieved a 26.5% strikeout rate with just one home run allowed. Following Aleman's poor performance in a recent game, the Guardians may be looking to Brogdon as a temporary solution for their bullpen.
