Guardians' Trade Deadline Moves Impact Playoffs
The Guardians were notably active in the trade market this summer, acquiring three players who have since played significant roles in the postseason. Jo Adell, Foster Griffin, and Nathaniel Lowe joined the team, enhancing their playoff roster.
Adell was traded from the Angels in exchange for catching prospect Jacob Cozart. After a slow start to the season, he improved in Cleveland, finishing with a .741 OPS and 32 RBI in 48 games. In the playoffs, Adell has contributed five runs across two ALDS victories, despite a challenging start.
Griffin, who returned to the majors after a stint in Japan, was acquired from the Nationals for a four-player package. Although he struggled during the regular season with a 5.19 ERA, he delivered a crucial performance in Game 3 against the White Sox, helping the Guardians avoid elimination. Lowe was obtained from the Reds shortly before the deadline and has been a versatile player in the playoffs, reaching base eight times in 17 plate appearances.
