Guenther Steiner Critiques Ferrari's Strategy Decisions in F1
Guenther Steiner, the former Haas F1 team principal, has criticized Ferrari for not admitting to strategic mistakes that he claims are negatively impacting their performance on the track.
During a discussion on The Red Flags Podcast, Steiner highlighted the poor strategy choices made by Ferrari at the Bahrain Grand Prix, where the team opted for soft slick tires despite wet conditions. This decision led to both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc falling behind early in the race, although they later managed to finish third and fourth, respectively.
Steiner pointed out that Ferrari's unwillingness to switch to intermediate tires, as McLaren did, reflects a deeper issue of not wanting to acknowledge errors. He contrasted this with McLaren's approach, where they quickly corrected their mistakes. Hamilton, who started second, shared his mixed feelings about the race, expressing gratitude for finishing on the podium while also contemplating what could have been had they chosen the right tires from the start.
