Guenther Steiner Reflects on Tenure at Haas F1 Team
Guenther Steiner, the former team principal of Haas F1, has acknowledged that he remained in his position for two additional years beyond what was necessary. His tenure concluded at the end of the 2023 season when his contract was not renewed by team owner Gene Haas.
During a discussion on the High Performance podcast, Steiner reflected on his time with the team, stating that he should have left when it became apparent that the ownership would not invest in the infrastructure he believed was essential. He noted that while he felt he should have departed earlier, he did not regret his decision at the time.
Steiner's exit was finalized through a brief phone call from Haas, which he found relieving. He described the moment humorously, recalling that he was at a supermarket when he received the news. Following his departure, he has taken on roles in television punditry and has become involved with the MotoGP and Moto3 team KTM Tech3.
