Gurnoor Brar Could Be Key Player for India in Test Series Against Sri Lanka

Farveez Maharoof, a former Sri Lankan allrounder, has indicated that Gurnoor Brar might play a crucial role for India in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, starting in Galle. This comes as India prepares to compete without their leading fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, following a disappointing home series against South Africa.

Maharoof expressed his belief that Brar, a 26-year-old rookie pacer, could be a valuable addition to the team, particularly given his impressive performance during a recent warm-up match. While Mohammed Siraj is expected to lead the pace attack, there is speculation about Brar potentially making his Test debut in place of Prasidh Krishna.

In addition to discussing Brar's potential impact, Maharoof noted that India will miss the experience of retired spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and the injured Washington Sundar. He suggested that India might opt for a spin attack featuring Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and either Manav Suthar or Saransh Jain. The series is anticipated to be competitive, with Maharoof predicting a 1-1 draw, highlighting the challenges posed by Sri Lankan spinners, particularly Prabath Jayasuriya.
