GWS Defender Fined Again for Umpire Abuse; Two Victorian Clubs Face Penalties
Lachie Ash, a defender for Greater Western Sydney, has been fined for the second time in four weeks for abusing an umpire during a recent match against West Coast.
The match review officer, Michael Christian, imposed a $1500 fine on Ash, which could be reduced to $1000 if he pleads early. Previously, Ash was fined $5000 in Round 19 for similar behavior, as the MRO determined that the standard penalty was insufficient.
In related news, Essendon midfielder Jye Caldwell has been fined $3125 for accidental contact with an umpire, which can also be reduced with an early plea. The club has faced escalating fines totaling $30,000 for multiple infractions. Additionally, the Western Bulldogs have incurred a sixth fine for a similar incident involving Lachie Bramble, while Carlton's Harry Dean received fines for tripping and instigating a melee.
